It seems most of the radio stations in the UK have already jumped on the GoGoBot bandwagon with the likes of Radio 1, Kerrang and 6 Music giving the Glasgow band airplay with even more support coming from local radio stations across Scotland. It means there’s a pretty big chance you’ll already have heard one of their songs even if you don’t recognise the name.
It’s not just radio that loves this Glaswegian trio. They’ve already notched up some support slots with the likes of Simple Minds and Big Country and also with previous X Factor runners up JLS and Olly Murs (although considering both have done better than the actual winners from their series of the reality show, they are pretty much the stars of it).
The band – Gordon McNeil, Marko Kelly and Rosie McClune – went down a different route than most bands this year by releasing a collect of bi-monthly singles rather than just focusing on two or three releases. The See Saw Series has already notched up thousands of plays on YouTube with around 25,000 people watching their videos and enjoying the bands catching pop melodies which are wrapped around some heavier rock hooks. One video even features Canadian comedian Stewart Francis who now uses one of their most popular songs ‘Do You Remember?’ as his entrance music when he performs stand up.
GoGoBot have undoubtedly has their most successful year to date and are toasting to that success with a headline show at King Tuts in December. Their bi-monthly single releases might not be something every small band does but for GoGobot it worked. And It’s given them the strong fan base they need to be heard by even more people in 2012.
