It’s certainly hard to be original and unique these days with Gaga overtaking everyone in those stakes but Kate McGill, a singer songwriter from Plymouth, is certainly having a bash at it. She’s fairly unknown as of yet but with 22 million views on YouTube she definitely won’t be able to keep her undercover status for much longer.
Her limited edition album, Replaced, is going to be released on iTunes on the 26th of September but for those who are after a hard copy you’ll be heading to your local Caffè Nero where you will not only get to purchase a copy of this madam’s beautiful tones but you’ll also receive a limited edition book and a free cup of coffee, an offer that you would be mad to refuse.
It would seem that Miss McGill is one for keeping it low key as all her tour dates are also in Caffè Nero’s of the UK which start at the proper hour of 6pm, sharp. Born in the beautiful county of Wales, in the even lovelier Carmarthenshire, in 1990 Kate says she had a relatively lovely childhood that was ‘nothing out of the ordinary at all’.
Even more extraordinary than this lady’s voice is the fact that she gave up a good uni place and a part time job in a very high end of the high street shop to focus solely on her music which she gives you the option of listening to without paying ‘a single dime’ as she uploads a video of every song onto her YouTube account.
A singer songwriter, without pretention and without the sole goal of making themselves some dollar is a little unusual, if not wholly odd; but Kate McGill is a little bit out of the ordinary. She’s down to earth and hopefully she’ll keep that charm as she, inevitably, finds her way to the top of the fame ladder.

Kate is amazing! I can’t wait until she’s touring the world(if that’s what she wants to do)!
